Don’t be broke
The guide (Page 2)

Settings up your work phone

Uninstall all the apps you dont need from your phone. Connect your smartphone to wifi and go to the Play Store. Update all the apps on your smartphone first, then install all the apps from the Don’t Be Broke Needed Apps section for your smartphone type. (Apple or Android). You’re going to need all these apps at some point in this guide.

Open LastPass on your smartphone and set it as your password manager. This will create hard to crack passwords for you and save them to app so you dont have to remember them.

You’re going to need $10 for the next part. Worst case scenario, if you don’t have any money, use the cash public assistance gives you on your EBT card.

Sign up for an Ipostal1 mailbox at this link. These are mailboxes with real street addresses that you can have a State ID sent to. You can view mail that is in your mailbox in the Ipostal1 app, so you dont have to physically check it every day, saving you time and money. The minimum plan is $9.99. Pick an Ipostal1 location near a MyPanera so you can get your mail while picking up your morning coffee if your a MyPanera Sips club subscriber.

Open LastPass and add your Ipostal1 login information in there so you dont lose it.

Open AccessHRA on your smartphone and make a login and link your public assistance case. Go into settings and set your notices to E-Notices only (Paperless). Now you can submit documents and receive notices in the app so you dont have to waste time going to the job center when you don’t need to. Change the address for your case to your Ipostal1 mailing address.

Save your AccessHRA login information to LastPass.

This next part is optional, if you are not interested, then uninstall Panera. Open up Panera and sign up for the MyPanera Sips club if you drink a lot of beverages so you can get them for free from Panera. They usually give you the first 30 days free. Get your morning coffee from Panera instead of the grocery store if your a coffee drinker to save money (normal 16oz coffee at most grocery stores is $2.45 x 30 = $73.50 saved in a month going to Panera for just a morning coffee).

Open LastPass and add your MyPanera login information in there so you dont lose it.

Open up EBT Edge and sign up. You can use this app to request a new EBT card be sent in the mail to your mailing address on file with HRA if you ever lose yours. You can also view your balances in the app.

Next, open up the McDonald’s app. Make an account so you get points at McDonald’s. When you are outside going to places and are hungry, grab a quick $1.25 snack at McDonald’s. The app usually has a deal where you get free medium fries if you spend $1. Buy something cheap, like $1 cookie, to get the fries for free. Sometimes, they have a deal for $1 large fries by itself, but not often. If they have it get that instead and forget the cookie.

Next, open up 7Eleven and make an account. When shopping in NY with EBT, shop at 7Eleven so you get 7Eleven points with EBT. Buy a sausage biscuit in the morning for $2.99, get the points and then use their microwave to heat it up. Use the points you get with EBT to get free drinks from 7Eleven when there isn’t a MyPanera around. Don’t use the points for anything else, it isn’t worth it.

Next, open Current on your smartphone, sign up for their credit builder card. Have their debit and credit builder cards sent to your Ipostal1 mailing address. Current credit builder card reports to the credit bureaus when your balance is paid every month, raising your credit score. You’re going to place the bulk of your money you get in your Current account. When you make purchases for now , you’re going to use your credit builder card to pay so your credit score improves. Once you get a job your going to set your direct deposit to Current also. Add your virtual debit/credit cards to your ApplePay or Google Wallet, so you have access to your cards immediately.

Open up PayPal and sign up for a PayPal debit card. Have that sent to your Ipostal1 mailing address. PayPal is used by a lot people as a method of paying you.

This next step is a little tricky. Open up MoneyLion and sign up for a RoarMoney account. They are going to need an address to verify who you are and to mail your RoarMoney debit card to, and they won’t accept an Ipostal1 mailing address. Use an old address you used to live at and just use the virtual RoarMoney card they provide in-app.

Put your debit cards away somewhere safe when you receive them and only carry your credit builder and EBT cards with you.

Open JobToday and PeopleReady and sign up for both. Everyday at 6am your going to look at them for a maximum of 30 minutes for new jobs. Save your resume to both apps and just keep submitting your resume to prospective employers.

Next, use the Privacy app to make temporary debit cards to protect your PNC bank debit card from unauthorized purchases and subscriptions you forgot to cancel. When making purchases online use your privacy card instead of your PNC Debit card. Set limits for your recurring subscriptions so that way if something happens you don’t accidentally pay for something you can’t afford.

Next, you’re going to need $ 5. Open CVSHealth and make an account. Sign up for extracare+, for $5. CVS will give you a $10 reward every month. Fill in any prescriptions you get at CVS, and they’ll give you cash rewards to use at CVS also. They send out promotional emails with $4 rewards every few days so you can rack up on hygiene products you dont have from the travel section for free every few days. They also send out 30%-40% off promotional emails, save these for big purchases.
